Collision Of Tractor, Manure Spreader Tank Results In Minor Injuries

November 22, 2014

(Spencer)– Minor injuries were reported Tuesday when a semi and a manure spreader tank collided on Highway 18 in Clay county.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says 28-year-old Justin Cook of Spencer was driving a 2000 Freightliner semi and grain trailer westbound when he met an eastbound John Deere 9330 tractor pulling two manure spreader tanks driven by 26-year-old Patrick Murphy. Authorities say Murphy turned south into a field drive, causing the rear of the manure tank to swing into the westbound lane, striking the semi.

Cook was treated for minor injuries; no injuries were reported to Murphy.

The semi driven by Cook and owned by LJ Leclair Farm, Incorporated sustained an estimated $8,000; no damage was reported to either the tractor or the manure spreader tanks driven by Murphy.

The collision took place Shortly before 3:30 p.m.
