4 OSL Debaters Qualify For National Competition

(Milford)– Four Okoboji-Spirit Lake debaters earned their way to the National Forensics League National Finals during the West Iowa NFL District in Congressional debate held Saturday in Carroll.

OSL swept the qualifiying spots in the three houses. Katie Johnson, the lone senior, won House 1. Haley Bushee, a sophomore, won House 2, and Jordan Hanson won House 3.

In the Senate, Jack Ave, a junior, qualified, earning his second straight trip to national in Congressional debate.

The NFL Nationals will be held in Indianapolis June 10th-15th.

By qualifying, Okoboji-Spirit Lake becomes a contender for the Karl Mundt trophy given to the top Congress School in the nation.

Okoboji-Spirit Lake also finished first in the Sweepstakes or overall standings.
