(Spencer)– A Spencer woman faces charges after a Texas woman reported her identity had been stolen.
The complainant, who’s from El Paso, Texas, reported to Clay county authorities back in March of last year that someone in the Spencer area was using her social security number to get a job.
Upon investigating, authorities arrested 21-year-old Elinor Lopez of Spencer. She was booked into the Clay county jail on a charge of identity theft…a class “D” felony.
Authorities say the case remains under investigation and that additional charges may be pending.
Lopez was booked into the Clay county jail pending an initial appearance before a magistrate. She’s also being held on a detainer for Immigrations and Customs Enforcement agents.
