(Estherville)– 17 students from Iowa Lakes Community College headed out today (Mon.) to assist in clean-up efforts in Creston-one of the hardest hit by Saturday’s tornadoes in southwest Iowa.
The students and college faculty loaded two college vans and a trailer with brooms, hard hats, rakes and cleaning supplies donated by the college and area businesses.
The students planned to arrive late this (Mon.) afternoon and will work until dark. They’ll work another full day tomorrow (Tues.) before returning to Estherville in the late evening.
In addition to the group of students helping in Creston, Student Senates on all five ILCC campuses are collecting cash donations for the Creston Iowa Tornado Relief Fund. Donation containers have been placed in the college’s businesses offices at each campus as well as at food service registers in Emmetsburg and Estherville. Checks should be made out to the Creston Relief Fund. Donations are being accepted through this Friday, April 20th.
