(Emmetsburg)– A famous Hollywood actress from the 1970’s will be the featured speaker at this year’s Senior Fun and Wellness day in Emmetsburg.
Marcia Wallace was best known for the role she played on The Bob Newhart Show. She played the role of Carol Kester, the fun-loving secretary at the medical suite where Newhart portrayed a psychologist. Wallace was also a semi-regular on the television game show “Match Game”.
Wallace is a 26-year survivor of breast cancer. She is an advocate for breast cancer awareness. She also wrote her autobiography, titled “Don’t Look Back, We’re Not Going That Way”. It tells of her rocky childhood, a nervous breakdown, breast cancer, widowhood, and other issues she dealt with.
This marks the 25th year for the Senior Fun And Wellness Day. It will be held Wednesday, May 16th at the Emmetsburg campus of Iowa Lakes Community College.
The event will begin at 7:45 a.m. with registration, wellness and resource information, coffee and a continental breakfast.
This year’s event will once again feature various activities, health screenings, workshops and entertainment. There will also be informational sessions on genealogy, chair exercises, Iowa trivia, digital photobooks, health and wellness, veterans affairs, E-readers, eating healthy, a mission trip to New Orleans, and many more.
The $10 registration fee payable at the door will cover all sessions as well as a continental breakfast and a turkey dinner for lunch.
The Senior Fun and Wellness Day is sponsored by Iowa Lakes Community College and the Palo Alto County Health System. It’s funded in part by a grant from the Palo Alto County Gaming Development Corporation.
