Minor Injuries Reported When Pickup Winds Up In Des Moines River

November 22, 2014

(Emmetsburg)– Only minor injuries were reported in a single-vehicle crash over the weekend in Palo Alto county in which a pickup left a road and wound up in a river.

The Sheriff’s Office says a deputy responded to the scene in the 4400 block of 360th Street Sunday. Upon arriving the deputy found a 2008 Chevrolet pickup upright in the Des Moines River in about three feet of water. Authorities say the driver and two passengers had exited the vehicle and left the scene.

Upon investigating it was determined the pickup was owned by Brandon Lundgren of Emmetsburg, who was a passenger in the vehicle. The driver was identified as Kelsi Meyers of Alta. Authorities say Lundgren complained of an injury but refused immediate medical attention.

The pickup was totaled.

The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Emmetsburg Police Department.
