Contestants Sought For Dickinson County Fair Queen Competition

(Spirit Lake)– The Dickinson County Fair Board is seeking candidates for the 2012 Dickinson County Fair Queen. Coronation will be held Sunday, July 22nd during ceremonies at the fair.

Contestant information must be returned to the Dickinson County Fair Office by 1:00 p.m. Wednesdasy, July 18th. The contestant must be available for the judging contest Sunday, July 22nd.

Contestants must be atleast 16 years of age and not more than 21 on August 9th, 2012 and must never have been married or have had children. A county fair queen must reside in the county she represents or an adjoining county if the majority of her activities are in the county she represents.

The contestant must be an active member of atleast one service organization. The new crowned Dickinson County Fair Queen will advance to the State Fair Queen competition.

No professional model is eligible to compete in the state competition. Any contestant who has competed at a State Fair finals may not compete again.

The newly elected Dickinson County Fair Queen must be able to assist at county fair shows, represent Dickinson county at the State Fair and ride in various local parades.

Judging will be based on community involvement, contestant written question responses, interviews with judges and general personality, leadership and beauty.

Each candidate will receive a $100 savings bond from the Dickinson County Fair Board. The queen will receive travel expenses to the Iowa State Fair, a $500 scholarship from the Dickinson County Fair Board to be awarded in her second semester of college and $200 cash from Iowa Lakes Electric Cooperative. Okoboji GM Toyota will be the official fair queen car sponsor for parades and public appearances.
