(Emmetsburg)– Minor injuries were reported Saturday in a single-vehicle crash in Palo Alto county.
Authorities say Alexander Ward the fifth of Ruthven was driving a 2004 Ford southbound on a county road about 6 1/2 miles northeast of Ruthven when a deer came out of the east ditch, causing him to swerve and lose control. The vehicle slide through the ditch before flipping over, coming to rest on its top.
Ward and a passenger, Peter Marcum of Ruthven, were located by authorities several hours after the crash had been reported.
Ward complained of minor injuries but apparently didn’t seek immediate treatment. No injuries were reported to Marcum.
Ward was cited for no insurance.
The crash was reported to the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office shortly after 7:00 a.m.
