(Spirit Lake)– Long time Dickinson County Sheriff Greg Baloun has easily won Tuesday’s primary election, defeating fellow republican challenger Gary Owen.
According to unofficial results from the Dickinson County Auditor’s Office, Baloun had 2,044 votes compared to Owen’s 526.
As no one was running on the Democratic ticket in the primary, it appears as of now atleast Baloun will advance to the November General Election uncontested.
For House District 1, Jeff Smith defeated challenger Kevin Wolfswinkel. Smith had 3,263 votes while Wolfswinkel had 2,721.
In House District 2, Megan Hess narrowly defeated Josh Davenport, 1,139 to 979. Hess will take on Steve Bomgaars in the November General Election. He was running unopposed as a Democrat in Tuesday’s primary.
