(Spencer)– A fire Thursday damaged the Curiel/Reynolds School of Visual Arts in Spencer.
Firefighters were called to the scene at 216 6th Avenue East shortly after 10:00 a.m. Upon arriving firefighters found a considerable amount of smoke coming out of windows on the east side of the building. Firefighters entered the structure and brought the blaze under control in about five minutes.
One person who was in the building at the time got out unharmed.
Fire Chief Doug Duncan says the building sustained heavy fire damage to two rooms on the east side of the structure and smoke damage throughout the rest of the building.
The fire was investigated by the State Fire Marshal and Spencer Fire-Rescue. The cause was undetermined.
