(Estherville)– A freak accident late Monday afternoon in Emmet county involving a mower claimed the life of a rural Estherville man.
The Emmet County Sheriff’s Office says 57-year-old Timothy Mann was attempting to unload a riding lawn mower when it apparently rolled down a ramp on a trailer, trapping him underneath. Two people on the scene at the time freed Mann. He was then transported to Avera Holy Family Hospital in Estherville where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
Authorities say Mann’s body has been transferred to the Iowa State Medical Examiner’s Office in Ankeny where an autopsy will be performed.
The incident remains under investigation.
It took place around 4:40 p.m. Monday at 1833 381st Avenue in Emmet county.
The Emmet County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on the scene by Emmet County Emergency Management.
