(Spirit Lake)– The Dickinson county board of supervisors Tuesday approved the hiring of a new Executive Director of the county’s Trail Board, provided references check out favorably.
The supervisors voted unanimously to hire Spirit Lake resident Jean Martin to the position effective July 1st. The current Executive Director will be stepping down June 30th.
Pam Jordan, the supervisor’s representative on the Trails Board, told fellow supervisors Tuesday that while the Trails Board has made an offer to Martin, that they had not yet formally approved the hiring as they needed additional time to check on references.
Concerned over the possibility of leaving the position vacant in the interim, the supervisors approved the hiring Tuesday with the condition attached. And to ensure the Trails Board has enough time to follow up on references, the new Executive Director will be placed on a paid probationary status until August 14th. The salary was set at $28,000 a year.
