Spirit Lake Teen Charged In Stolen Vehicle Case

(Spirit Lake)– A Spirit Lake teen faces charges in connection with a vehicle that was reported stolen earlier today (Tues.) from a residence in the Center Lake area.

Spirit Lake police say they took a report of a stolen vehicle around 6:00 a.m. from a residence on Center Lake Drive. Upon investigating, officers discovered a neighboring vehicle had been burglarized with property taken out of it. An attempt to locate the stolen vehicle was broadcast statewide among various law enforcement agencies. Shortly after 8:00 a.m. Denison, Iowa police spotted the stolen vehicle and pulled it over. In the process, they made contact with a 17-year-old male juvenile from Spirit Lake who was arrested and charged with second degree burglary and first degree theft…both class “C” felonies; and third degree burglary…an aggravated misdemeanor. The name of the juvenile, who was transferred to the Youth Emergency Services Center in Cherokee, wasn’t released.

Spirit Lake police were assisted by the Denison Police Department.
