November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– A traffic stop Wednesday on 240th Avenue near Templar Park on the southwest side of Big Spirit Lake landed a Minnesota man in jail on traffic and drug charges.

The Spirit Lake Police Department says officers pulled over a vehicle driven by 23-year-old Kai Anthony Fritz-Watson of Eagan, Minnesota around 7:45 p.m. for speeding.

Upon further investigation, the department’s k-9 “Yaria” conducted a sniff of the vehicle, resulting in authorities finding a green plant-like material believed to be marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Fritz-Watson was arrested and booked into the Dickinson county jail on charges of speeding…a simple misdemeanor; possession of a controlled substance…a serious misdemeanor; and possession of drug paraphernalia…a simple misdemeanor.

Officers say Fritz-Watson could face an additional charge of operating while intoxicated, pending the outcome of an investigation.
