Corridor Staff Begins Gathering Info For Cost Of Living Index

November 22, 2014

(Spencer)– Representatives of the Iowa Lakes Corridor Development Corporation will begin gathering data later this week for a local cost of living index. Corridor officials say it will consist of five key areas, including food, housing, transportation, healthcare and miscellaneous goods and services.

Corridor staff will conduct the surveys in person at area grocery stores, pharmacies, restaurants and other shops, as well as by telephone, beginning this Thursday  and continuing through  Saturday, July 14th.

Corridor officials say the index will be updated on a quarterly basis.

Corridor President and CEO Kathy Evert says they plan to use the index as a tool to recruit people to the area…(click here for comment from Evert).

Evert says they expect to publish the findings from the first index sometime by September.
