(Spirit Lake)– The cause of a house fire Sunday night in Spirit Lake has been ruled as accidental.
The Spirit Lake Fire Department was called to 941 29th Street around 9:00 p.m. and found a lot of smoke in the home. Fire Chief says the smoke originated from a closet in a basement bedroom. An investigation by the State Fire Marshall determined some candles had been left burning in the closet, starting some clothes on fire.
Firefighters spent about three hours on the scene.
No injuries were reported. No one was home at the time the fire broke out. They discovered upon returning and called 911.
Damage to the home was put at roughly $100,000.
