(Milford)– The Milford Police Department has released details into a two-vehicle collision that took place earlier this week on Highway 71 near the intersection with 202nd Street, or in front of Boulder’s Inn and Suites.
Police say Rebecca Smith of Milford was driving a 2006 Ford Focus southbound when she crossed the center line and collided with a northbound 2007 Hummer driven by Ashley Williamson of Spencer. The ford came to rest on the northbound shoulder of the highway; the Hummer rolled two to three times before coming to rest in the northbound lanes.
Smith had to be extricated from her vehicle. She and Williamson were takne to Lakes Regional Healthcare in Spirit Lake.
Both vehicles were totaled.
Milford police were assisted on the scene by the Lakes Regional Healthcare ambulance and paramedics, Milford Rescue, the Arnolds Park and Okoboji Police Departments, and the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office.
The collision took place around 5:00 p.m.
Authorities say it’s still under investigation.
