(Jackson, Mn.)– An Estherville man faces charges in connection with the attempted rape of a Jackson, Minnesota woman.
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office says it received a report around 5:00 a.m. this past Saturday of a suspicious vehicle and person at the Sunrise Estates Apartment complex in Jackson. As deputies responded to the scene, they observed three unidentified males standing by the vehicle. Deputies were then made aware from an adult female that one of the men had tried to rape her.
Upon further investigation, deputies determined the three Hispanic men were invited to the woman’s apartment to drink beer. During that time, the victim’s daughter went into the victim’s bedroom to find 33-year-old Jose Manuel Martinez of Estherville on top of her mother. When she asked her mother if she was alright, she responded by saying no. The daughter then saw Martinez was holding a pillow over the woman’s face.
When deputies interviewed the victim, she told them she had gone to bed and woke up to find Martinez on top of her trying to rape her.
Martinez was booked into the Jackson county jail on two felony counts of criminal sexual conduct. He’s being held on a $30,000 bond.
