(Spirit Lake)– The Spirit Lake city council reviewed plans for a new city hall at a meeting earlier this week.
The revised cost for the project is $1,795,177. Plans still call for the city to use $500,000 in cash reserves to buy-down the amount to be borrowed. With that and related financing costs factored in, City Administrator Mark Stevens says the amount that would be on the ballot is $1,355,000…substantially less than the $1,745,000 proposal that failed in November, 2011.
The revised plans call for a single-story masonry structure with a full basement. Each level would consist of 6,839 square feet.
While there’s still time to put the measure on the ballot for the upcoming November General Election, it seemed to be a concensus of the council Tuesday that it would be too soon. Councilman Clyde Ihrke…(click here for comment from Ihrke.)
The council plans to hold a work session after the Labor Day holiday to further review and fine tune the floor plan for the project and to further define costs.
