(Montgomery)– No injuries were reported Monday in a combine and field fire in the Diamond Lake area near the Iowa/Minnesota border.
Assistant Spirit Lake Fire Chief Pat Daly tells KUOO news firefighters were called to the scene shortly before 2:00 p.m. He says a spark from the combine started a field of soybean stubble on fire along with the combine itself. Daly says fortunately the operator had a fire extinguisher with him and was able to quickly put out the fire in the combine, which sustained little or no damage.
Firefighters spent two hours on the scene putting out hot spots in the field.
An estimate as to how much land burned wasn’t immediately available.
