November 22, 2014

(Sibley)– A single-vehicle crash early Tuesday on Highway 9 near Sibley injured an Adrian, Minnesota woman.

The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office says 43-year-old Jackalyne Hieronimus was driving a 2002 Ford Escort westbound when she fell asleep at the wheel. Hieronimus sustained incapacitating injuries and was taken to the Osceola Community Hospital in Sibley.

Damage to the vehicle was estimated at $5,0000. The guardrail, owned by the Iowa Department of Transportation, sustained an estimated $3,500. Damage to the field fence, owned by Gene Hassebroek of Sibley, was put at roughly $50.

The crash took place shortly before 5:00 a.m.

The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Sibley Fire and Rescue and the Sibley ambulance.
