(Spirit Lake)– A natural gas leak Saturday resulted in the evacuation of several homes in a Spirit Lake neighborhood.
Fire Chief David Kollasch tells KUOO news firefighters were called shortly after 11:00 a.m. to 3701 Keystone Avenue where a contractor had accidentally hit a two-inch gas line.
Police cordoned off severals streets in the area and several homes were evacuated as a precaution. Kollasch says crews with Black Hills Energy were able to cap off the line without incident and no injuries were reported.
Residents were allowed to return to their homes a couple of hours later.
