New Four Lane Segment Of Hwy 20 To About To Open

November 22, 2014

(Early)– Another four-lane stretch of Highway 20 is about to open to motorists. The Iowa Department of Transportation says a new 26-mile four-lane segment of the road between the intersection with Highway 4 in Rockwell City and U.S. Highway 71 near Early is scheduled to open to traffic at Noon Monday, November 19th.

A ribbon cutting ceremony is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 21st, about a mile east of the intersection with Highway 71 in Sac county. U.S. Representative Steve King, Governor Terry Branstad, Lieutenant Governor Kim Reynolds, members of the U.S. Highway 20 Association and former and current D.O.T officials are scheduled to be on hand.

The opening of the latest segment means the remaining two-lane highway 20 gap will be narrowed to just 44 miles.

The Highway 20 Association has been working many years for completion of the four-lane highway from Dubuque all the way to Sioux City.
