DNR Starts Aeration Systems On Several Area Lakes

November 22, 2014

(Undated)—The Iowa Department of Natural Resources has started aeration systems on several area lakes.

The systems are in operation on Five Island Lake in Palo Alto county, Center Lake and Silver Lake both in Dickinson county, and Ingham Lake in Emmet county.

Those going out onto the ice on those lakes need to use extreme caution, as there is thin ice and open water where the systems are in operation.

DNR officials say the aerators are needed on the shallow lakes to help reduce the likelihood of a fish kill during harsh winter conditions.
