(West Bend)—A single-vehicle crash in Palo Alto county yesterday (Wed.) claimed the life of a West Bend man.
The Iowa State Patrol says 72-year-old Robert Klepper of West Bend was driving a 2006 Ford Explorer eastbound on County Road B63 just west of West Bend when he lost control. The vehicle left the road just north of the West Bend-Mallard High School where it struck a utility pole. It continued eastbound, colliding with some landscape timbers before coming to rest a short distance later.
Klepper was taken to the Palo Alto County Hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
The crash took place shortly after 2:00 p.m.
The Iowa State Patrol was assisted on the scene by West Bend Fire and Rescue, the Palo Alto County EMS and the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office.
