(Spirit Lake)– A two-vehicle collision Sunday at the intersection of Highway 71 and 34th Street in Spirit Lake sent one person to the hospital.
Spirit Lake police say 44-year-old Dean Tuinstra of Lake Park was northbound on Highway 71 when he collided with the rear of a vehicle driven by 73-year-old Wilson Connor of Spirit Lake who was also northbound and was stopped for a red stop light.
Tuinstra was taken by ambulance to Lakes Regional Healthcare. No injuries were reported to Connor.
Tuinstra was cited for failure to maintain control.
$5,000 in damage was estimated to a 1998 Chevrolet Tahoe driven by Tuinstra; damage to a 2003 Dodge Ram pickup driven by Connor was estimated at $3,000.
The collision took place around 5:20 p.m.
