(Spirit Lake)– Authorities are sounding the alarm over another scam that targets primarily older residents.
The caller claims to represent an organization by the name of “American Senior Services”. The perpetrator attempts to sell information on how to maximize Medicare benefits. In the process, the caller asks the person on the other end of the line for a variety of personal information.
Authorities say it’s a scam, and that the telephone number on which the call comes in on originates from the Dominican Republic.
There have been reports of local residents receiving such a call in recent days.
