Suspicious Person Investigation Results In Several Charges Against Bancroft Man

November 22, 2014

(Estherville)– An investigation by Estherville police into a report of a suspicious person earlier this week landed a Bancroft man in jail on drug and other charges.

Estherville police say it stems from a call they received on Wednesday of a suspicious person at a bank. Officers arrived on the scene and made contact with the man, identified as 29-year-old Jeremy VanTrump of Bancroft. Police say VanTrump had allegedly tried to gain access to someone else’s bank account, but was unsuccessful.

Upon investigating, officers found drug paraphernalia on VanTrump. He was arrested and charged with four counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, one count of identity theft and one count of public intoxication.

VanTrump appeared before a magistrate and was released after posting an $11,625 cash bond.
