Cylinder Curve Semi Rollover Results In Only Minor Injuries

November 22, 2014

(Cylinder)– An Oklahoma man escaped with only minor injuries Tuesday when a semi he was driving wound up on its side in the curve on Highway 18 just north of Cylinder.

The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office says Cuong Ngoc Phan was driving a 2005 International semi eastbound when he came upon the curve. Deputies say Phan couldn’t see a flashing light warning of the curve due to fog. Authorities say he was unable to slow down enough and that he lost control as he went into the curve. The semi wound up on the driver’s side before it hit a stop sign and two curve signs. It then slid into the east ditch.

Phan was cited for failure to maintain control.

The semi and trailer, owned by Soldwedel and Horn Enterprises of Plymouth, Wisconsin, along with the boxed crates of cheese it was hauling, were deemed total losses.

The crash took place around 3:30 a.m.
