(Undated)– Okoboji High School and Spirit Lake High School music groups placed high in separate competitions this past weekend.
The Okoboji High School jazz band placed 2nd in class 2A Saturday at the Hoover Jazz Festival. Outstanding soloist/musicianship awards were presented to Tyler Ohl on trumpet and Tom Mayer on trombone. Ohl was also selected to the festival all-star band as one of the top soloists on trumpet from Class 2A.
The Spirit Lake Music Factory show choir and combo placed 4th in class 3A at the Emmetsburg Invitational Saturday.
The Spirit Lake Vocal Jazz Ensemble placed 2nd Saturday at Emmetsburg in an open class competition involving all vocal jazz groups.
