(Spencer)—A weekend house fire in Spencer sent a woman to the hospital.
Spencer firefighters were called shortly after 6:30 a.m. Saturday to a report of smoke coming from a residence at 520 6th Avenue West. The resident, Carol Fullerton, reported hearing popping sounds and found the house full of smoke. She called 911 and got out.
Upon arriving firefighters could see flames showing out the front door and windows on the south side of the home. They quickly brought the fire under control.
Upon investigating, it was discovered the fire started in the bathroom, but the cause hasn’t been determined.
Fullerton was taken to Spencer Hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation.
Damage to was estimated at $60,000.
Spencer firefighters were on the scene about three and-a-half hours.
They were assisted by the Spencer Police Department and the Spencer Hospital paramedics.
