(Sheldon)—A two-vehicle collision Sunday evening on Highway 18 four miles east of Boyden sent two people to the hospital.
The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office says 22-year-old Kaitlyn Ruden of Sheldon was driving a 2005 Chevrolet trailblazer eastbound when she lost control and collided with a 2005 Chevrolet Impala driven by 19-year-old Breanne Van Roekel of Boyden.
Ruden and Van Roekel were taken by ambulance to the Sheldon hospital.
$10,000 in damage was estimated to the trailblazer driven by Ruden with about $8,500 in damage estimated to the car driven by Van Roekel.
The Iowa State Patrol, Sheldon Police, Sheldon Fire Department, Sheldon and Boyden ambulances, and the Boyden Fire Department assisted on the scene.
Authorities say the collision took place around 10:00 p.m. and that it’s still under investigation.
