Clay County Farmer Supports Local Organization Through Philanthropic Program

November 22, 2014

(Spencer)—A Spencer-based organization is receiving a donation courtesy of a farm chemical company and a local farmer.

Chris Olson, who farms in Clay county, was recently selected to receive a contribution from the Monsanto Corporation’s “Americas Farmers Grow Communities” program. The philanthropic program provides farmers in eligible counties the chance to win a $2,500 donation, which they then give to a charity of their choice. The company this year doubled the donation to $5,000 to further support counties declared natural disaster areas by the U.S. Department of Agriculture due to drought. Clay county is among them.

Olson donated the $5,000 he received to Atlas of Spencer, a human resources organization, which will  use the money for its general operations and office expenses.
