Terril Plans To Survey Residents

November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)—Our series highlighting various cities in the Iowa Great Lakes continues. The focus this week is on Terril. Mayor Daryl Woods tells us the city has been making good progress in recent years on several fronts…(click here for comment.)  “We’ve done a lot of sidewalk repairs in our city. We’ve also done some street repairs. We were fortunate enough to get some people in to do some tree trimming for us. We also had a new lagoon that was built and finished in December of 2012. That was a big project for us also. And we also aquired the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office to patrol and respond to any calls the city may have.”

Woods says they plan to get citizen input on other areas of possible improvement…(click here for comment.) “We are going with a Northwest Iowa Planning and Development Commission to survey the town and give the council a few insights on some things around town that need to be cleaned up like junk and junk vehicles. We’re also looking at possibly a city-wide cleanup day. And of course we’re going ahead with plans on our Terril Fun Days in August.”

Woods says they’re looking at making some possible changes and additions to the event…(click here for comment.) “We’re looking at maybe possibly a softball tournament on Saturday; of course we always have the fun bean bag tournament; we’re also looking at maybe a horseshoe throwing contest, something new. And then we always have the little carnival rides uptown, the inflatables. And we’re also looking at maybe doing a car show on Saturday. And then of course on Friday night and Saturday nights we’re looking at having a couple of live bands with a street dance on Saturday night.”
