Clay County Crash Results In Minor Injuries

November 22, 2014

(Spencer)—The Iowa State Patrol has released details into a single-vehicle crash last week in Clay county that resulted in possible injuries to the driver.

Troopers say 53-year-old Michael Houchins of Spencer was driving a 2003 Chevrolet pickup southbound on Highway 71 about a quarter of a mile south of 390th Street in Clay county when he lost control on the slush-covered road. The pickup went into the west ditch and struck an embankment and a farm fence. It then rolled, coming to rest in a field.

Possible injuries were reported, but Houchins apparently didn’t seek immediate treatment.

$5,000 in damage was estimated to the pickup.

Houchins was cited for failure to maintain control.
