(Des Moines)—Current Iowa Ag Secretary and Spirit Lake native Bill Northey says he will NOT seek the nomination for the open U.S. Senate Seat.
In a posting on his facebook page, Northey says he made the decision after thoughtful consideration and consulting with his family. He says he was humbled by those who urged him to consider the nomination. Northey says he instead feels he would be more effective serving Iowans as Secretary of Agriculture.
Northey adds that he’ll give his support to Congressman Steve King should King decide to run for the seat.
