(Lester)—A collision last (Thurs.) evening on Highway 9 near Lester in Lyon county sent two people to the hospital.
The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office says 22-year-old Shelby Leloux in Inwood was eastbound and was being followed by a vehicle driven by 23-year-old Mindy Kier of Spencer. Authorities say 68-year-old Larry Reck of Rock Rapids was westbound and collided with the vehicle driven by Leloux as she attempted to make a turn. The impact resulted in several objects being ejected from the rear of Reck’s vehicle, which struck Kier’s vehicle.
Leloux and Reck were transported by ambulance to Sanford Hospital in Rock Rapids.
A 2002 Oldsmobile Silhouette van driven by Leloux and a 2002 GM Sonoma pickup driven by Reck were both totaled. About $1,000 in damage was estimated to a 2008 Chevrolet Malibu driven by Kier.
The collision took place around 6:00 p.m.
The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Lester Fire and Rescue.
Authorities say the collision is still under investigation.
