Former Hawkeyes wrestler and two-time NCAA Champion Brent Metcalf is headlining this next week’s Beat the Streets Gala in New York. Metcalf, who won two NCAA titles, finished runner-up once, and was awarded the 2008 Dan Hodge Trophy as the nation’s best wrestler, will face off with long-time rival Darrion Caldwell. The two wrestled three times in college, including the 2009 title bout. The Beat the Streets Gala is a fundraising event held annually for inner-city wrestling programs. This year, it takes place on the USS Intrepid on the shores of Manhattan and will honor the “wrestlers in our nation’s service.”
