The Spirit Lake boys and girls golf teams opened the 2011 season Friday night with a dual meet against out-of-state rival Jackson County Central, and the two teams split the matches. JCC won the boys match by a stroke, 173-174. Spirit Lake’s Matt Weeks was the medalist with a 35. Tanner Asa led Jackson with a 42. In the girls dual, it was Spirit Lake grabbing a 196-215 victory over the Huskies. Maureen Owens of Spirit Lake was the medalist with a 35, while Kaylee Benson shot a 37 for the Huskies.
