MaryLenore O’Neill, 91, of Spirit Lake passed away on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at Accura Healthcare of Spirit Lake.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday, October 24, 2026, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with a visitation one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the Church. Burial will be held in the St. Margarets Cemetery in Spirit Lake. Arrangements are under the direction of the Robinson Funeral Home in Spirit Lake.
MaryLenore O’Neill was born on September 4, 1935, to Edwin and Mary Catherine “Mayme” (Murphy) Duffey in Fairmont, MN. She graduated from Fairmont High School and earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from St. Teresa College in Winona, MN. She was united in marriage to Jean Thomas O’Neill while he was on leave from the service. The couple was stationed in Germany until his honorable discharge from the service when they returned home and started their family. They lived in Armstrong where Jean worked as a banker for more than 30 years. After he retired, they moved to Spirit Lake.
Lenore was a dedicated mother raising their five children. When she could find some free time, she enjoyed playing bridge. She was devoted member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Spirit Lake.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 67 years, Jean O’Neill of Spirit Lake; children MaryRuth O’Neill of Columbia, MO; Margaret “Peggy” (David) Folan of Spirit Lake; Sharon Sanz of Overland Park, KS; Edwin (Ginny) O’Neill of Troy, NY; and Brian O’Neill of Dallas, TX; seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and seven siblings.
