(Okoboji)– A lot of young anglers will be hitting the Iowa Great Lakes this weekend for a special event. Paul Daniels is with the Iowa Great Lakes Fishing Club which is a major player in the event…
“The Iowa TVF Student Angler Federation is having their statewide competition for bass fishing. That’s junior anglers, they call them and then those are under high school age, and then high school anglers. So it’s a state competition for the year. Top winners get to qualify for a national event even. They’re anticipating over one hundred boats so it’s a big deal. The third year that they’ve ran it. It’s just like you see on tv. So you’ve got the weigh in, in the morning they start off with the National Anthem and the colors are presented and then they wrap up. Our fishing club is very happy that we’re able to support this event because it impacts so many kids in the area, it brings so many people to our region to experience fishing in Okoboji. We’re a presenting sponsor with Strike King, which Strike King is a big name in the industry so it’s kind of cool to have our club being able to be on the same presenting sponsor level as Strike King.”
On another note, the Iowa Great Lakes Fishing Club will be holding their annual Kids Fishing Clinic April 23rd. We’ll have more on that Monday.
