(Spencer)– The Spencer Fire Department was called around 8:30 pm Saturday to a report of a fire on the back of a residence at 1108 3rd Avenue West in Spencer.
A press release from the department says the fire was out when they arrived on the scene, but some vegetation that had been burning damaged some vinyl siding and an electrical line to an air conditioning unit. The fire did not spread to the home itself.
The release says the fire was caused by improperly discarded smoking materials.
Firefighers were on the scene about 10 minutes.
