Spencer Chamber Gearing Up For Flagfest June 12th-15th

June 02, 2025 Steve Schwaller

(Spencer)– Flagfest in Spencer will be held June 12th-15th with a wide range of activities for the entire family. Blake Goss of the Spencer Chamber of Commerce says things kick off Thursday, June 12th with a Reading Under the Stars and Star Gazing event put on by the Clay County Conservation Board and Spencer Reads. The event will be held at the Stub Johnson Family Equestrian Center in Spencer.

Goss says things kick into high gear on Friday, June 13th with the Spencer Tail Twisters annual Golf fundraiser followed by activities that evening at 6:00 pm at North School Park…

“We’ll have a couple of food trucks out there, we’ll have a touch a truck, I we’ve got a fire truck, a tractor, a boom truck, all sorts of cool stuff. Imagination Library will be out there and you can register for the kid’s pedal pull which will take place at 7:00, and then we’ll wrap it up with Movie In The Park and this year’s feature film is Mario Brothers, and the Jaycees are behind that.”

Another full day of activities will be taking place Saturday, June 14th

“The Chamber Foundation 5K Fun Run and Walk, that will start and finish at the Spencer Municipal Hospital. There is a registration fee for that, it is $25 and it all goes toward the foundation. Once that wraps up we’ll start lining up for the parade and that parade will be on the same route as it always has been, down Grand Avenue, and that will begin at 11:00 prompt.”

A free family fun day will follow the parade at the Spencer YMCA…

“This was wildly popular last year and we added an hour, so it’s going to be 2:00 to 5:00. It includes inflatables, swimming and blackout dodge ball. Parents are encouraged to attend and play as well. This really helps eliminate weather related issues with rain, we have to move the inflatables. Everything’s indoors, it’s a controlled climate, no bugs. You just can’t beat it. The YMCA is very grateful and appreciative to letting us come out there and if it keeps growing we’ll just keep adding an hour each year. Then evening will be upon us and we’ll have the Grand Cruise downtown, always a cool sight to see with the classic cars, and then we’ll wrap up that night with a street dance down at Ax-A-Holics where Dave Rowley and Ryan Sather will be performing along with Cowboy D.J.”

Flagfest wraps up Sunday, June 15th with free swimming at the Spencer Aquatics Center; an open house at the Parker Museum; a pet parade and cardboard boat races.
