(Okoboji)– Be Like Bigfoot will be the theme of Family Nature Night put on by the Dickinson County Nature Center during the University of Okoboji Winter Games. It will be held on January 23rd from 5:00 to 6:00. Amy Heibult, Dickinson County Nature Center’s Community Relations Coordinator Heibult talks about what to expect during Family Nature Night…
“We’re going to start off the night taking a walk through a visual timeline to see how long trash takes to break down in nature. We’re also going to head outside to search the Kenue Park trails for the seven Principles of Leave No Trace. And then we’re also going to be looking out for any signs that Bigfoot might have passed through. So, kind of a fun night. If families are looking for something to do during Winter games, it’s family friendly and we’ll head back inside after our hike and we’ll brainstorm some ways of leaving no trace in our wildlife areas, and families can add their ideas to a large collage that will hang up in the nature center, and then kiddos will get to take home a booklet as a reminder to take care of our outdoor spaces.”
Pre-registration is required for this event and the deadline is January 21st at 5pm. You can register by going to dickinsoncountyconservationboard.com under the programs/events tab.
