(Spirit Lake)– A traffic stop Monday in Spirit Lake resulted in drug and weapons charges being filed against a Lake Park man.

The Spirit Lake Police Department says officers pulled over a vehicle shortly after 4:30 p.m. near the Pronto convenience store. A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in officers finding what’s believed to be marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and a pistol.

22-year-old Michael Mell of Lake Park was then arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance…marijuana…second offense, a serious misdemeanor; possession of drug paraphernalia, a simple misdemeanor; and carrying weapons…an aggravated misdemeanor.

Mell was booked into the Dickinson county jail.
