SEDC Acquires Apartment Buildings Heavily Damaged In Last Year’s Flood

April 01, 2025 Steve Schwaller

(Spencer)– Some apartment buildings on the southwest side of Spencer that were heavily damaged in last year’s flood have been acquired by the Spencer Economic Development Corporation, or SEDC.

According to a press release, the SEDC will oversee the demolition of the buildings on 1st and 2nd Avenue Southwest, with the sites being cleared for a new multi-family development. Officials say the project will have strict guidelines to mitigate potential damage from future flooding.

The release goes on to say “this project underscores SEDC’s dedication to providing safe, attractive and affordable housing options for current and future residents”.
