May 14, 2025 Steve Schwaller

(Jackson, Mn.)– The Riverside Farmers and Makers Market is returning to Jackson for another season. Bill Brandt serves as market manager and is a board member with the Jackson Center for the Arts, which helps put on the market through the season. He says the first market of the season will be held May 22nd

“Hours are going to be 3:30 to 6:30 on Main Street outside the Jackson Center for the Arts building and to inform the public we’ll be closing that street down at 3:00 to 7:00.”

A dedication will also be held for some benches and live musical entertainment will be featured. Brandt adds the Riverside Farmers and Makers Market will also this season be participating in some food assistance programs…

“The Power of Food Club is eligible to all residents. Single get $10 in tokens and a family of three or more you get tokens up to $30 to spend for food products at the farmer’s market. Another program we just got authorized is we’ll be an authorized market for SNAP. SNAP basically is the old food stamp program. We are going to be able to have those clients be able to swipe their card for $10 and then there are two other programs that these clients are eligible. That includes Market Box, which is another $10 and Produce Market Box. We are partnering with Second Harvest and The Food Group. In the state of Minnesota they offer these programs. They are federal as well as state programs. By swiping your card for $10, you are paying $10, you will receive another $20 to spend at the Riverside Farmers and Makers Market for food products.”
