(Sibley)– Construction continues on the new Osceola County Jail. Sheriff Kevin Wollmuth says the recent warm weather allowed crews to make some good progress…
“We now have all the walls, outside walls and inside walls, are up and the roof was completed. Yeah, they’ve had some good weather these last few weeks to get some of that stuff done.”
Wollmuth says there’s another factor behind the rapid progress…
“All the inside and outside walls, that was all pre-fab. So when they started coming in they started coming in on semis. They had a crane there and the crane would pick up the walls and place them down and they would weld them down and it took probably about a month to get the whole outside and inside structure done.”
Wollmuth says the project remains pretty much on schedule…
“I think they’re still looking at an August completion date. There’s a lot of detail work. So right now, they want to start pouring the concrete for the inside flooring this week yet so, and since the roof is done and there won’t be so much condensation, they can start heating the facility on the inside and they said it needed to be about 45 degrees before they can start the concrete work.”
The facility that houses the existing Osceola County Jail was built in 1907.
