(Estherville)– An investigation into a phony $100 bill that turned up at an Estherville business has landed a man in jail on forgery and drug charges.
Estherville police say they received the complaint on January 19th. Officers say the business was able to give a description of the suspect, thanks to security video.
Officers made contact Wednesday with the suspect, identified as 28-year-old Patrick White of Estherville. He was arrested and booked into the Emmet county jail on a charge of forgery, a class “D” felony.
Police then obtained and executed a search warrant on White’s residence on South 6th Street in Estherville, and on his car. While searching for other forged documents and any additional counterfeit money, officers located a large amount of a substance believed to be marijuana. They then applied for an additional warrant for illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia for White’s residence. Upon executing that warrant police found additional marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
Additional charges of possession of marijuana with intent to deliver, a class “D” felony; failure to affix a drug tax stamp, a class “D” felony; and possession of drug paraphernalia…a simple misdemeanor…were then filed against White.
