(Emmetsburg)– The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office says additional arrests have been made in connection with a drug investigation that’s been ongoing over the past year.
Authorities say Caleb Reed of Ruthven was arrested as part of the probe back on January 3rd on charges of delivery of a schedule 2 controlled substance…a class “C” felony; and delivery of marijuana, a serious misdemeanor.
On Wednesday of this week officers stopped a vehicle after witnessing a suspected drug transaction at a residence in Emmetsburg. Upon investigating, 19-year-old Austin Kienol of Spencer was arrested for driving while suspended. A passenger, 19-year-old Mercedes York of Spencer, was also arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance. The two men were booked into the Palo Alto county jail.
At about 8:00 p.m. Wednesday authorities obtained and executed a search warrant on a residence at 1604 11th Street in Emmetsburg. It resulted in the arrests of 20-year-old Briana Nelson and 18-year-old Casey Metz, both of Emmetsburg. They were charged with possession of a controlled substance, a serious misdemeanor, and possession of drug paraphernalia, a simple misdemeanor.
As they were leaving the residence, officers spotted 22-year-old Daman Hauschen walking toward the house. He was taken into custody in the back yard of the residence on warrants for delivery of marijuana…a class “D” felony; and delivery of a prescription drug, a serious misdemeanor. A search of Hauschen turned up a quantity of marijuana and packaging material.
Hauschen was booked into the Palo Alto county jail on the warrants and was additionally charged with delivery of marijuana, a class “D” felony; possession of marijuana with intent to deliver, a class “D” felony; and possession of drug paraphernalia, a simple misdemeanor.
The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office is being assisted in the ongoing investigation by the Emmetsburg Police Department and the Iowa Department of Criminal Investigation.
Authorities say more arrests are likely.
